Here at CoffeeMagazine.Com we LOVE coffee. We love it for many reasons – it’s refreshing, it’s energizing, it’s delicious, it’s comforting, it’s something that friends and families the world over enjoy together. We also love coffee for its versatility.
Most of us are familiar with many of the drinks coffee brings us – espresso, cappuccino, mocha lattes, your morning coffee with your favorite creamer, the thousands of drink combinations Starbucks brings us. Because coffee is an ingredient that meshes so well with so many different flavors, however, the foods and drinks it can be combined with are endless!
This inspired us to do some research to find a few little known coffee based recipes most of us have never heard of. Today we want to share with you a few of the recipes we thought to be the most unique and delicious. The best part – you can make most of these with ingredients you already have in your home. Enjoy!
Café de Olla
- 8 cups water
- 4 ounces ground coffee
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 ounces brown sugar
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 square semi-sweet chocolate
Directions: Bring water to a boil, then add the cinnamon, cloves, sugar, and semi-sweet chocolate. Let the mixture come to a boil again and then skim off the foam. Reduce to simmer and then add the coffee. Let steep for 5 minutes and serve! This sweet drink is sure to satisfy.
Milky Way Cappuccino
- 2 shots espresso
- 1 shot caramel syrup
- 1 shot chocolate syrup
- Foamed Milk
Directions: This one is so delicious you simply won’t believe how easy it is to make! Just mix together all ingredients in your favorite coffee mug and add a bit of foamed milk. Voila! It’s like drinking your favorite chocolate bar.
Lemon Café
- ¼ cup coffee
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
- 2 ounces lemon sherbert
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Directions: Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Serve and enjoy! This is a zesty and refreshing drink for a hot summer day.
Apricot Iced Coffee
- ¾ cup chilled coffee
- ½ cup chilled apricot juice
- ½ cup fresh apricots
- ½ pint softened vanilla ice cream
Directions: Mix the coffee and apricot juice together in a bowl. Add the vanilla ice cream and beat mixture until smooth. Mince the fresh apricots. Pour the coffee, apricot juice, and ice cream mixture into glass and top with the minced apricots. Delicious!
