Only available in 48 stores (mostly in Seattle) in the US, Starbucks Costa Rica Finca Palmilera Coffee is their most expensive yet – $7 per cup of plain black coffee, and $40 per 8 oz. bag. The key that makes this coffee so special is the bean it consists of – the rare Geisha varietal that is notoriously difficult to grow. Prior to this, the coffee chain’s Jamaica Blue Mountain was the most expensive.

The brew is described by green coffee specialist, Leslie Wolford, as being “Lush, tropical, hints of white, not yellow, peach,” she added “A little bit of pineapple. Herbal complexity. Super-clean. Vibrant. Sparklingness.”

Starbucks offers this unique coffee within its Reserve line, which has been a favorite among connoisseurs. Reportedly, one online store sold out of this variety within 24 hours due to high demand.
