Kopi Tubruk, a.k.a. Collision Coffee, is traditionally the most popular form of drinking coffee in Indonesia. It’s one of the most basic methods of brewing coffee, and produces one of the strongest cups around.  It’s a very basic brewing method, but we’ll show you the best way we know to make the best Collision Coffee.

Step 1:

Grind your coffee into a very coarse grind. If you want to stay true to the tradition of this drink, use a blend that is mainly Robusta and with a lighter roast.

Step 2:

Boil your water. Then place coffee grinds, about 2 tsp per every cup of water, in pot to boil. Let boil about 2 minutes.

Step 3:

Pour boiled coffee, grinds and all, into each serving cup. Stir cream and sugar in if desired, then allow coffee to rest until coffee grinds have settled to the bottom. All done!
