Grocery Store Coffee Shop Gripe

I like Raley’s supermarkets. I like Belair supermarkets. I like Peet’s Coffee and Tea. But, I don’t believe the three are a good match together. Here’s the thing – if you’re going to put one of your coffee shop’s inside a store, dedicate employees to run that shop like you would any other shop. These employees should also be trained baristas, just like you would have in any other shop.

Instead, what I am finding at Peet’s locations within Raley’s stores, and especially within Belair stores, is that the Peet’s shop is abandoned until you stand in front of it for 5 minutes and wait for a store employee to notice you. Then, your drink is made incorrectly, or sloppily, or just plain horribly – yet I am charged the same as if I was to visit a dedicated store. Doesn’t seem fair to me.

I love Peet’s Coffee, but I hate grocery store Peet’s Coffee. And, as fair as I am concerned, it’s also a disservice to your company’s good name by having your product represented in this fashion.

Here’s hoping someone at Pete’s takes notice of this problem and addresses it as best they can.
