Exports are on the rise in Nicaragua with 2012 seeing the country finish with a 17.5% increase in export growth and a record-setting $2.78 billion in sales. Coffee climbed back up to the top of the country’s exports with $519 million in sales last year, kicking beef exports down to third place and gold to second.
The US is currently Nicaragua’s main trading partner, buying at least 29% of the exports from the country in 2012. Following the US is Venezuela, Canada, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.
The Nicaraguan government has already set its goals for this year at an increase of $3 billion.
